Hi,
So I created a 2-d sketch and made it 3-d using sweep. I'm trying to use the rectangular pattern tool to copy the object 9 times in a certain direction. I created a line that points in the direction I want, but when I try to click on it, the rectangular pattern tool will not allow me. Are there any suggestions as to how I can do this? Thnk you!
Sincerely,
Melissa

Try selecting Axis rather than sketch line.
Attach your file here if you can't figure it out.

Is there a way to draw an axis tangential to a circle? Whenever I click axis, it puts the axis right through the middle of the circle. Thanks!
My guess is that you already have an axis - the X, Y or Z axis.
If those are not appropriate then you can use a sketch line to define a new axis.
Attach your ipt file here and end all doubt within minutes (or seconds).

Did you try clicking on this line to create your axis?

Looking at your file - my guess is the existing X-Axis is what you needed to select.

Got it. And is there a way to move a rectangular pattern in a specified direction? I can't seem to find a way. If not, how do you create a 2-D sketch that lies at a certain depth in the 3rd dimension?
