native speaker needed

Sorry for this being a bit off topic. We have to deliver a set of drawings bilingual German + English, and I'm missing one expression here. It describes a small square part that is welded aside the mounting of a hydraulic cylinder to keep the cylinder in position through all heavy workloads. How do you call this small part in English? -- Regards, --- Leo Laimer Bad Ischl - Austria

Wondering, I looked up the "Translation" into English for "dingsbums", they are: gizmo, doodad, widget, gimmick, whatnot, dohickey, dojigger, doohickey, thingummy, thingamabob, thingamajig Here, most non politically correct politicians are "bums".
