Multiple Check-Out from Vault

Hello All,

I know that one can open multiple files from the local vault (mirror hard drive), but isopening multiple files from a remote Vault possible? (Ctrl+picking files does not seem to allow) The only reason I'm asking is because several DWF files were not created, therefore I have to check these out-save-and check them back in. (someone turned the DWF setting off....arrggggg!)

Thanks in advance,

Jack

Hopefully, you are not opening files from Vault Explorer. The
recommended approach is to Open from Vault In Inventor. Anything else is a
recipe for link problems and other errors.

Absolutely not. I know what can happen. 😞 I am opening them thru Inventor. I can either open files on my local drive Vault, or Corporate Vault. Local Vault is a mirror. Now, someone may have updated a file and checked it back in to Corporate. Therefore, that is where I would check it out from thru Inventor. I was just trying to open more than one file, as I can on my local drive. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks

BTW, the corporate Vault is at a different facility in a different city.

Hi,

Inventor Vault cannot support multi-select in open/place from vault. But I think this is a good suggestion, hopefully we can get the function in furture releases.

Thanks,

Shadow

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping that I was getting my point ascross correctly. That ability would save some time indeed. Perhaps this might be addressed in the future.

Have a good weekend.

So when do you suppose Autodesk may get around to
fixing that?  It's been a problem for as long as I've been using Vault
(since 1.3).

This is "As Designed". I doubt that changing this is a
high priority.

I'm not at work right now, but if my memory serves me correctly, you don't have to check out something to be able to create (or re-create) the visualisation file (dwf).
In Vault Explorer, go to the view tab and hit 'update'. This will create a dwf file without having to go through the chore of checking out.
We're using Vault Explorer 2009.
