Modify part causes flat pattern orientation to change

A coworker of mine called me up to tell me about a problem he ran into. He had a sheet metal piece with a flat pattern and dimensioned the flat pattern on his Inventor DWG just like he wants it. He noticed he needed to fillet 2 corners in his model. He applied the fillet, saved it, and when he came back, his flat pattern was rotated 180*. Going into the flat pattern itself, the "Front" on the view cube was upside down from what it was and the view cube could not be re-oriented.

Why would adding two simple fillets redefine the orientation of the flat pattern?

Without the file, it's impossible to guess what happened but this can be used to re-orient the flat pattern and will 'restore' the dimensioned drawing to it former state.

Finally someone that can answer this! Thank you so much. I have looked this up a couple of time and could not find an answer.
