Modeling a Coiled Ring

Hey guys and gals,

I am trying to model a coiled ring. Attached is a picture, but the basics are that it needs to be a coiled ring with the coils angled forward about 35 degrees. (The picture should help show you what I am talking about.)

-Thanks

Manny

It seems that the best way to do this would be to sweep a circle along a desired path. Anyone have any idea how write the parametric equations for this shape in the picture?

AIMESUS,

In addition to the previous replies you can find an example model that might be useful at this link:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Inventor-General/draw-a-SPRING-around-a-circle/m-p/3566844#M443872

You can change the parameters as needed, or just use this model as a guide to create your own.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
