Migration help

What the is going on. I can't seem to migrate from 5.3 to 6.
i use the inv 6 migration program and on one computer it frezzes after doing 6 files and the other computer freezes after doing 8 files. i have tried everything but still no luck. this is keeping me from getting any work done at all.
i have over 3,000 files i need to migrate. does anyone know how to fix this? i have already reinstalled inv 6 and all that crap that you shouldn't have to do all the time.
ps i had not one problem going from 5.0 to 5.3.

I noticed some larger files seemed to hang. I crashed out and restarted and they seemed to hang again but it was late in the day so I let them run over night. In the morning I expected to reboot but the files were migrated. So what I found out is give it time. Especially on files that have large perf patterns or lots of punched holes. I migrated one this morning it took 3+ hours. 565 punched holes.7 flanges. good luck

The files i started with were just steel shapes at different lengths. one comp freezes after doing 6 files
and the other after 8. i haven't even got to the large files
of unit assemblies or weldments yet. right now just trying to do steel shapes and fastners. you can have the same part
saved as 7 different names and it will freeze up after trying to migrate the 6th one every time. i let it set for over an hour and nothing.....

can you open the assemblies and do the migration
during opening or does it hang there too? if so it might be a video
issue?

I think someone from autodesk suggested changing
the hardware acceleration to Microsoft generic (lowest setting) then running the
utility.  Has to be worth a try.  It did work on one of my
assemblies.

Look back in some of the earlier posts. I thought there was an issue
with memory leakage due to the video setting and a recommended setting
that would overcome this.

Hey TC, another idea if you have the HD space.
Copy all your ipt, iam, idw's etc. over to another location
and play with migrating there and keep you original stuff and work on it
with 5.3. When you get time you can dink with 6 and migration and not affect
your current work. 5.3 and 6 seem to co-habitate fairly well on the same
machine.

I don't understand why the video setting is
important. When inventor migrate the files with the migrate tools, inventor

As far as I can tell Inventor opens up for each
migration and if Inventor is on then video is important.

If you look at any migrated files you will see that the preview bmp is
updated to reflect the new background that you have configured in R6,
therefore there is some background video interaction going on, whether you
the user actually sees it or not is a moot point.

IMHO, if the card is not certified, it shouldnt be on the machine. period.

My card is certifiable does that count?...no wait it's me that is
certifiable...ok forget it....

I do agree though 100% not that my opinion is worth anything.

OK as much for me, I have just made the test and effectively the bottom of
screen is updated. Thus there is effectively something to do with the
graphics board. What is strong all the same.. Thus one can at this moment
adjust the parameters graph at least to improve the speed of the migration.
