Midplane Extraction

I have a muber of large MDT6 assemblies that I am in the middle anlyzing in
Ansys. I would like to be able to extract midplane shells, so that I can
construct shell models of the assemblies. I don't believe that MDT6 can do
this directly, but I was wondering if Inventor does have this capability as
I can convert the the assembly files to inventor for analysis purposes.

Thanks for you help,

Mark

Maybe you need more of an explanation to get a response here. Perhaps you could post an example to CF. I don't even know what the term "extract midplane shells" means. My guess is that you simply want to shell out the inside of your parts without removing any faces, which can be done in either Inventor or MDT. I am not familiar with ANSYS, but some FEA software works on surfaces. Export as IGES or in MDT am2sf to turn solids into surfaces. Help me understand what your trying to do?
