Memory Saving Mode

Hi,
Today I was asked what the Memory Saving Mode does, and whether it should be checked or not. On my computer is wasn't checked, so I decided to investigate a little. The help had very little that explained what it was used for and when you should/shouldn't use it. So I looked on here, and found that most people had a problem when it was checked, with not being able to see .iam after they had started an .idw. So, my questions are, who uses it, what for and is it worthwhile? My colleague thought it might help when we open a large assembly's .idw. Is this the case?
Regards,
Ozitag.

short answer is that it purges the memory of the component you are creating a view of, once the view is created.
you'll note that when using it, that the undo history is gone.
