My Measure tool has become erratic.
The majority of the time, if I hover my mouse over a hole feature, I can "select other" to select the axis and then measure to another feature, say a hole pitch. Now if I hover over a hole feature, I only get the option to measure diameter.
This has just recently started happening.
Any ideas?

Hi!
Inspecting a hole, the first inspected parameter is always the diameter, but if you wait a little bit more, or hit the RMButton and "Select Other" you will have a list of what you can also inspect.
Also if you are inspecting the distance between a hole and other geometry, pick first the other geometry, then pick the hole and it will chose the hole center point automatically.

Sorry, but this is on IV2013.
The functionality of the measure tool is irratic. The option to select other is not there.
It's not behaving erratically - this is the way it's always worked.
Whenever you want to measure to the center point of a circle, you have to pick something else first, and measure from there to the circle. If you're trying to measure between two circles, measure from some random thing to the center of the first circle, then you can measure from there to the center of the second circle.

Sorry, but my explaination of the workflow is poor.
Most times if I want to measure from one home centre to another, I will select the measure tool and place my mouse over the first hole, wait until the "select other" function highlights, then use my wheel mouse to scroll through the options until "axis" is selected, I will then measure to the next hole.
What sometimes happens, is when I place my mouse over the first hole, the only option I have is to measure the diameter of the hole. The "select other" option does not come up.
I hope this clarifies the workflow and my issue.
Hm.
Check TOOLS --> APPLICATION OPTIONS --> GENERAL
What's your "Select Other" delay set to? Do you still get the "Select Other" prompt after a short wait everywhere else?
Rusty
Yeah, the functinality of the select other option is fine elsewhere. (currently set to .8 secs)
exSWX,
Could this be data-set dependent?
Could you have bad imported geometry?
You do have the following installed:
Autodesk Inventor 2013 Service Pack 2
http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL21702054
Update 6 for Inventor 2013 Service Pack 2
If this is only failing in certain files, can you get me a file that is constantly fails in?
Thank you.
Hi Bob,
Thanks for your reply.
Since installing the Update, I haven't experienced the problem.
I will monitor the situation, but will mark your reply as a solution.
If using Inventor 2024, change the selection filter here in the screenshot below.
