Hi all,
I have a part that is giving me some grief. Here is a link for the Inventor 2013 part file. The continuous groove should be .05" deep. In the picture below, I need to move the upper surface down .022”. Errors are generated when I try to use a surface to split and remove the extra material. Sequence of combine/split doesn't seem to matter in the model tree. I've tried to use the move command to regenerate the combine at a new height, it still generates errors. I'm stuck, if anyone has some time to give some advice I would appreciate it. There are solids in the model that can be use to generate data.
What happens if you do a Manage>Rebuild All?
(Your model fails on my r2013 machine when I Rebuild All. I will check in 2014 and 2015 as well when I get a chance.)
When I rebuild all, there isn't an error. Does it generate the error on the combine or split? By the way, I should have highlighted the inside geomerty also:
I'm a little confused on the exact requirements, but couldn't you edit the Z offset in the Move Body 3 feature in the browser to achieve the desired results?
Thanks,
The goal was to lower the top surface cut without changing the oval groove depth shown in the middle of the part. Changing the body offset was the first thing I tried, however errors generate when you resolve all the features. For now, I am talking with the machine shop to see if they can just use and oversize cutter. Thanks for your idea but don't spend anymore time on this, it's a one off part.
