Material issue

I am having an issue where we have some templates that we use contain a reference to a .png file and because of this we aren't able to check the files created with this template into vault. I am not sure how the template was made but if i create a new template and create parts with it there is no reference issues with this material but we have numerous parts created with the templates that do contain this material. I have tried changing the material type and then purging but the reference is still there. Below is a screen shot of what it is looking for when attempting a check in. Does anyone know how to remove this reference? any help would be appreciated.

With that file open try going to "Tools..Options section" and hitting the "links" button. Then you can select that path and break link.

I believe that at one time Inventor had a bug that would stick any images used in appearances into that section thus causing the problem.

I have thousands of files like that and have no idea how it got that way..
