Mass summation in part list

Hi all,

I have following problem:

1) There are several items in assembly such as "strip" and its length are different.

2) These items have identical part number, therefore in the part list its are merged in one "item" and have one balloon.

3) But mass for this one "item" is "varies" in the part list.

4) Is it possible to make masses of all item (see point 1) are summarized in the part list string for one merged "item"?

Have a look at this help file.

Click the link and scroll down to find this title.

Change the column format settings

I think this will give you what you want.

Hi hargo,

I have tried option Substitution, i. e.

Enable Value Substitution : [When exist, use value of]

then,

When rows are merged, value used is : [Sum of Values]

If [When exist, use value of] is iProperty <<Mass>>, this method works, but... masses are are summarized

for all items in the part list.

I want so that masses are summarized for several items only.

I have created the custom iProperty <<UserMass>> as =<<Mass>> for these several items only and

have used  this custom iProperty for field [When exist, use value of], but in this case masses are not summarized and indicated as "Varies".

Is it possible to somehow solve this problem ?

Please, try the following.

In the assembly BOM, add the specific Part Number to the Merge Exclude List in the Part Number Row Merge Settings.

merge.png

Optionally, if you want to have the same balloon number for the components, override the item numbers you get in the BOM, after you have unmerged them as explained above.

number.png

In the Parts List, group the components again as shown in the image below.

mergepl.png

And finally apply the substitution to the MASS column.

In this way, you should get the total mass for the components with the same Part Number in the Parts List.

I hope it helps.

Kind regards,

Alessandro

Hi Alessandro,

This method is Ok, but, in this case, Item Numbers are not indicated in Part list

(please, see 3rd your screenshoot)

If checkbox [Display Item Numbers] is marked in the Item field are indicated the Item Numbers of all particinants.

I would like have one Item Number only in the field.

Is it possible to somehow solve this problem ?

Unfortunately, I don’t think this is possible.

If you set the item numbers as in the second image above and Display the Item Numbers in the Parts List, you will get this: “1,1,1”

If you prefer, you can also clear two of the three cells of the second image.

In this case, you get this in the Parts List: “1, ,”, but, if you apply the balloon to the component with the empty cell, this will be empty as well, and you need to fill up it manually.

In any case, I hope my suggestions could have been handy in some way.

Kind regards,

Alessandro

It is possible if ITEM field is assigned with custom iProperty <<UserItem>>

The value of custom iProperty <<UserItem>> is the same as iProperty <<Item>>

(copied in the assembly BOM)

Actually I was looking for a solution a bit less manual to suggest, but, that is indeed interesting.

Thanks and regards,
