Manual Physical Properties

I wanted to know if there was a way that I could manually input a weight number for one of the components in my assembly????

I want to manually input a weight calculation for a right angle gear reducer. The component in my assembly is a .ipt model I managed to get from the manufacturer. Of course the .ipt file is only a shell of the actual reducer itself which makes any weight calculations determined by Inventor to be inaccurate. I have the actual physical reducer already, and was just going to weight it and input it into Inventor.

Go to the iProperties of the part and edit. You will see the image beside the value change from a calculator (calculated value) to a hand (user edited value).

Exam question - How do you get it back to calculated value?

Type the mass into the appropriate box in the
part's Physical tab of Properties.

Delete the value from the box.

As of now I am unable to edit the properties field. I see how to do it, but my material option is greyed out and I am unable to edit the calculator next to it.

I hate when it does this
