Mailing assemblies - faster?

Hi NG

INV 5.3
What is the fastest way of sending an assembly by email?
I do not need to send the actual Assy, but enough to make my customer able
to discuss the design and look at the assy in 3d.-Meaning that i dnt have to
be an native Inventor file
At the moment we use pack&go+ZIP but it takes forever + we have to break the
assy up into smaller pakages (max 5 Mb) if we dont want the mail to crash
half way through.

Is there any help for us or are we doomed to get an ADSL-connection. We are
using ISDN for now. And a 10mb/s LAN.

I have only tried this a couple of times and I don't remember how much
smaller the file was (if any) but you might want to check it out.

Zipping doesn't make IV files that much smaller. You might want to look
into RAR compression. It can break one large compressed file into a number
of smaller files. The recipient then run a RAR decompression on these
files..

Might see how big an XGL file is and then use an XGL viewer.

What was that website with that new free streaming internet viewer that worked with R5.3 but we all went and voted for them to get R6 support ASAP? That seemed to have good compression.

This Modelpress seems very interesting. Does it only work if IV5.3 is
allready installed?
I tried to use it on a machine with only IV5 installed, but it fails each
time.

I couldn't tell you, but the company seems pretty responsive to people.
Some people emailed them to see if it was going to be made to work
with R6, and they responded, so I would just try emailing them directly.
