Good morning,
I am have a problem with weldment files taking a long time to actually build the welds. I have 300+ welds in my current model and to do a 5" weld it takes 55-60 seconds to build it.
In the begining when adding welds it was normal unitl i hit around 75-100 welds then time it took to build it went up. and time increased with the amount of welds laid. Anyone having the same problem when adding lots of welds to their models? Any setting i can select or any other ways of doing this workflow to make is easier/smoother?
Thanks.
I normally don't model welds in the iam file, so I may not be able to help much.
1. Don't model welds, just call them out on your assembly idw/dwgs.
2. Make sub-assemblies that limit the number of weld features to about 75.
You can set the sub-assemblies to phantom so that they do not show up in your top level assembly Parts List.
3. You might try LODs to suppress sections of your assembly.

Hi! Could you try a few things and see if you find a difference?
1) Do you use Design View (View Rep) at the top level? If yes, could you delete all non-Master DV and then create a new weld bead? Is it faster?
2) Activate LOD:All Comp Supressed -> only unsuppress the components need to participate in the new weld bead. Then create the new weld bead. Is it faster?
Many thanks!

Yes. (IV2014) I don't usually see so many welds as you, but o'lets REALLY slow things down. putting 20 weldolets on a large, long radius (32"-5D) elbow had it calculating each update for... well... let's just say it makes for many an inadvertent coffee break.
I have tried all things suggested in the previous post. Nothing made a differance in time to build a weld. The only thing that seemed to take off time was to turn the weld symbols generation off when creating the weld beads. This took off about 15-20 seconds of wait time. Please let me know if yall have any other advice.
I agree sometimes waitng on Inventor to build the weld seems like waiting on a turtle to cross the road.
Hi! I think I need to see the actual dataset in order to make further comments. Could you send me the files (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com) directly or I can set up a secure account for you to upload?
Thanks!
