Loft/rails query

Looking for help on the loft command. I have posted a file in customer files
"Faucet" - which shows the base shape of a faucet (sketch 2) and the end
shape of a faucet (sketch 6) and the path that I want the loft to follow
(sketch 1).
My understanding of this command is probably totally incorrect but if
someone could help and / or point me in the direction of a tutorial which
could help me master this command I would be most thankful.

TIA,

Wayne

Looks like you need to put the two rails on separate sketches for it to
loft. You didn't mention what the specific problem was (obviously it won't
loft, of course) but if you're having problems with IV asking you to pick
regions, it's the fact that the base profile is split so you would have to
make three picks to get the base profile: first pick: the profile sketch,
second pick: one region, third pick: other region. Then when trying to
select the second profile to loft to, you would need to pick: click to add,
then it will be available. Next, move to the Rail dialog and pick: click to
add and add the rails.

Don't know of any tutorials, but I've put a reply to your post in CF that you
might be able to glean something useful from. I'm still in the "figuring it
out" stage myself, so can't offer much advise. One problem you will run into
sooner or later; rail end points must be coincident with a profile curve.
Gaps aren't always easy to find and there is only a generic failure message
that offers no clues as to the problem when it happens.

Good luck with it,
Jeff

Thanks for the discussion I am also doing a lot of lofting,
it helps to put work points in to define where the sketches and the rails join this way you can add a profile part way along the loft to improve control of the shape.

draw a work plane : add work point at intersections of work plane and the rails. : project workpoints into the new sketch and draw lines arcs splines etc to define the shape.
