Lockheed L-382 Hercules model?

Lockheed L-382 Hercules model?

It's a long shot but does anyone have a solid model of a Lockheed L-382
Hercules cargo plane?
It does not need to be Inventor as long as it can be converted into
something I can use in Inventor.

I needs to be fairly detailed in the cargo area so that we can see if a
Sno-Cat will fit.

Thanks

I don't even find this model on Lockheed's site so maybe it's a C-130?
anyone have a model of one of those?

What, the AirForce doesn't have tape measures?

Sorry, maybe one of the 3DS sites? Probably just have the surface...

I have checked all the sites I know of, this is probably a solid model that
is not floating around in "the CAD circles" but is probably reserved for a
few elite people.

Albert, I have a plastic scale model of the C-130, in 1/48th scale. I can
furnish you measurements if you like. If so, what measurement do you need?

Albert, the width of the cargo bay forward of the wheel wells is 123.2
inches. At the wheel well, the width is 119.5 inches. Aft of the wheel well,
123.2 inches. The length of the cargo bay is 40.4 feet (from the rear of the
forward portion to the front edge of the loading ramp). The height of the
cargo bay is 9.0 feet, for the full length of the bay. I got this info from
an RAF Web site. Bob

Thanks very much Bob!, it looks like we will just "squeeze in" with a little
grease and a running start

There are a couple others it could be Albert, I think the cargo birds are
C-5 Galaxy, C-17 Globmaster and C-141 Starlifter besides the C-130
Hercules. I think the Hercules is the oldest and the smallest of the four.

Albert asked for the Hercules, that would definitely be the C-130. Good
luck getting the Sno-Cat in there, I'd like to see pictures if you get it in
(should be a pretty tight fit)! I've spent a few hours crammed in the back
of a C-130 that was loaded with equipment and personnel, not the most
pleasurable ride, especially when you compare it the C-5 Galaxy. Only one
of those birds I haven't been on is the C-17, but I saw it fly at Oshkosh 2
years ago and it was pretty amazing what they could do with it.

I agree ... L-382 is most likely code for C-130 (and I assume a lot of folks
know the name Hercules) but Albert wasn't all that convincing that a Herc is
what he was thinking of so I threw in a couple of options. Then again ... it
will only be a Herc if the Snow-Cat actually fits, right?

Right you are Larry. I guess I missed that point. Anyway, here is a link
that shows the L-382 (Lockheed's number) as a military C-130.

Pretty cool site. First thing I downloaded was the F-86 Saber. In my model
building days that was the first one I did. When I went to find something
else I liked, I ended up deciding the F-86 needed a wing man but after that,
I soon realized a squadron was the way to go. I don't know most of the
civilian designations, I don't think.

Models like this are as rare as Rocking Horse manure. I had a client not so long ago who was designing a cleaning/service
platform for Virgin Airways that had to be dual purpose for Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A340 and wanted either a CAD model or some
dimensional info. He ended up going down to Heathrow and measuring up - with full AND empty fuel tanks just to really wind him
up.

Wasn't the 777 the first completely CAD designed aircraft?

Doesn't surprise me they are hard to find.

(Rocking Horse manure? LOL)

shouldn't all armed forces vehicles be hard to find? after all if anyone can find them on the web whats to stop someone from building them.

Where do the plastic model makers get their
info on military planes?

I saw a video of a French large scale
model airplane meeting and the detail on the military planes did not come from
just archive pictures! They had a B-17 there that weighed in at 450 pounds and
it took three guys each with a remote control to fly her!

There is information out there you just gotta know
the right folks.

I tried to get the management to fly me to Alaska
with a laptop and a tape measure so I could make a solid model of the
transport but they wouldn't go for it. <G>

That's right Sean, and all the sub-contractors were required to provide
Boeing with CAD files for the parts they provided. I was working for a
company that did fire/overheat sensors for the engines and aux power units.

John, what do you feed your rocking horses?

Good point, never thought of that. What are some sites that have inventor models or CAD drawngs already made up?
Are they calles libraries ?
I know Autodesk used to send out CAD library (block) disks to my old company. Anything like that for IV?
