linking text to an iProperty

Does anyone know if it is possible to link an iproperty to a text field. I'm creating an iPart factory and I would like to emboss the part number on the surface and have it automatically change with the iPart that is created. The only way that I could think of to do this would be to have the text in the text box to be pulled directly from the iProperties. Any help would be appreciated.

I've done this using a unitless parameter, but our part numbers are formatted: [base number]-001, 002, etc. It was on an iPart that only had a few versions so I was able to use this method. I don't think you can use iProperties though.
