linking a dimension from one part to another

Basically what I am trying to do is link the length of a flange on one part to a different part. Am I able to take the dimension from another part and say I want this flange to be a certain length plus the seperate part dimension?

Several options.

Multi-body solids.

Link to Excel spread sheet.

Derived Components - Named parameters.

.

Adaptive top-down modeling.

I prefer in that order.  (more or less, depending on design intent)

Is there a number I can call and have someone walk me through some of these steps. I am new to Inventor so I am still unsure of how to accomplish these things

Hi lpillatzke,

If you can take JDMather up on his class offer, I'd highly recommend it, but if not and you can view youtube.com, here is a quick video showing the steps to link parameters between parts::

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
