License transfer

Is there a process that will allow my company to legally transfer one
seat of Iventor to me personally?

Yes. There is a fee, but your VAR should be able to do it for you.

Really? I didn't think you could do this. At least I didn't think you could transfer licences and have Adesk acknowledge the new owner as far as subscription and upgrades.

Do you own the company too? Or are you just an employee?

I am aware via closely tied rumors of at least one
small company owner that got in serious trouble

due to folding one company and starting a new
company and using Inventor (probably without

trying to transfer the license). But there may have
been more involved than I know of or can even

discuss at this time.

click 'Help', 'About inventor', 'License agreement'

There is says

You May Not:

3. distribute, rent, loan, lease, sell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer all or part of the Software, Documentation or any rights granted hereunder to any other person without the prior written consent of Autodesk.

thus get Autodesk's permission first.

BTW wonder why my license agreement says US-Canada - I thought we were Europe ,Mid East Africa.

I checked my documentation.

The term used should be "License Transfer Fee".

It exists for AutoCAD and VIZ, as well as Autodesk Verticals, like IV.

You will need Autodesk's approval of course.

My understanding from past discussions have been that if your company sells off a portion, is acquired by another company, or changes names then the license can be transferred. In those cases the license has to be at the latest version and a fee applies. I can't guarantee this is accurate.

If a company goes bankrupt, the license is cancelled and cant go anywhere.
