level of detail..

Hi all !

We are starting using the level of detail functionality and I am really missing the opportunity to lock this LOD the same way as I can with a Representation view.. Is there any way to do this ??

Best Regards

Lars,

This is an interesting idea. Indeed, currently there is no way to lock an
LOD Rep. I will forward this request to development for review.
Thanks!

As Johnson Shiue pointed out, you can't currently "lock" an LOD (good idea btw), however, you can copy the LOD to the View Representations and lock that VR. In this scenario, your suppressed LOD parts will become hidden, the biggest draw-back is that you will loose that memory management (hence those objects will load into memory) and you'll likely suffer on performance for very large assemblies.

Hi again !

Yes it is a good idea... And please take this further on...

It's not a possibility for us to transfer it from LOD to the representation because were are using it from almost the first strike of our big project.. And therefore we need to keep it as a LOD... And we need to have the LOD to get some of our assembly open...

Hope that the idea will go further and could be used in another release of Inventor..

Maybe you'll find that API Code interesting.
