Keyshot

Does anyone here use Keyshot?

I've used it for a while now but the lack of live-linking is a problem for me.

I've asked the question and it appears the lack of demand is the problem.

If the demand for Solidworks is there, surely the demand for Inventor should be too?

We have the Studio environment in Inventor..

We have raytracing straight from the part/assembly environment.

We have showcase..

We have 3ds max..

and by "we" I mean all the users who are on subscription and have been on since all these programs were given to us as part of the suites.

With just these 4 I'd suspect we have all the rendering a vast majority of Inventor users need.

Solidworks also has a bigger market share I suspect..

90% of the companies I deal with use Solidworks.. The other 10% is Inventor or something else.

I haven't seen a "CAD survey" that didn't have Solidworks beating Inventor.

I added my thoughts to your KeyShot posting...

Frankly, I'm surprised Autodesk hasn't bought Luxion yet.

I think the rendering in Keyshot is vastly superior to anything in Inventor.  Keyshot also has HTML output.

Tried Showcase a few years back and didn't get along with it.  Might give it another go.

Use Blender instead of 3DS Max, which is ridiculous I suppose, but it's what I'm used to.

Never knew that Solidworks were so dominant either.

Anyway, you can still vote for your favourite CAD software!

Yes keyshot IS vastly superior to whats currently in Inventor..

and quite possibly to showcase and 3dsmax..

No argue there..

Rendering is only 1% of what I do.. if that and frankly I just use raytracing directly from the part/iam and it does all I need currently.

Hi,

Autodesk have a rendering package called VRED

http://www.pi-vr.de/en/products/gallery/direct-vred-gallery.html

We started using it about 2 months ago. I believe this render engine is more than comparable with Keyshot. Both create stunning results and are easy to use.

I have seen a few promotions for Keyshot integrated into Solid edge, so maybe the company direction has a more bias towards that market.

Cheers

I think you are right with regards to Solid Edge.

Also VRED and Keyshot do seem similar, but VRED is over $11 thousand PER YEAR!

As posted in another Keyshot thread, have you ever tried Otoy?
