JUST ANOTHER DAY OF FRUSTRATION WITH INVENTOR

Hello All Upon opening an .iam file, I get a message saying
"Invalid reference to segment object used". What does this mean? I am unable to edit anything within the .iam.

reece,

Just a hunch,
Check to see if you have a duplicated file name within your project
environment.

Good luck,

It probably means you or somebody else screwed with
one or more part files used in the assembly. Renamed, copied, changed project
file, stuff like that. Or maybe it's a migration problem meaning that a part has
not been migrated correctly. Try opening the file in a previous
version.

Use Window's Explorer to browse out to your assembly's part files. RMB on the part and look at properties. Check to see if the "Read Only" box is checked. If so, uncheck it.

besides all other people said, I want to point my finger to Autodesk. Even that true that u or whoever might screwed up parts by such as rename, replace or whatever, when IV opens the assembly, it should know how to go to the part with the same name in the database fo the assembly.

My point is, somethere in the middle, People who do the constructure of IV has misconception on how to handle the assembly .

Agreed. So get a decent PDM or start using the
vault where you can fall back on previous versions.

I did that. What I am doing is trying to fix all models in order to make that Red Cross Sign gray out. Hope that will help .
