Offset face to create joggles looked like a great solution but it works sporadically.
Attached shows making a joggle at corners and another part.
it may work for 3 sides of a flat square blank but not the 4th side.
then you'll get Face Creation Failed - ! Invalid type for double bend !Feature Compute Failed
Anyone know what the problem is?
Can you attach *.ipt file here?
Yes JD, thanks. There are 2 .ipt attachments of the problem here. had all work bu one offset and I think you'll see it.
I appreciate that Carlos.
In the default your joggle/offset ends at the 2nd sketched face you're wanting to offset.
By flipping the fixed edges the joggle/offest starts at the 2nd sketched face (which is what I want).
However, it still doesn't make the offset reliably repeatable. The offset face feature still fails at the 3rd instance.
Thanks, Greg
Hi! There is indeed an issue here. It seems like when the Fixed Edge option is selected and there is a Bend zone nearby, the desirable Bend cannot be created. The workaround is to ensure the Face sketch has a gap to the Flange edge so there is enough room for a Bend.
I will forward this case to development for further review.
Many thanks!
We did get a case started CaseNo:09740797
You're the AutoDesk guy but what you're describing doesn't sound like my problem.
Offset face is great weather you flip edges or not.
However - it is not repeatable.
