IV6 SP1 installation report

What a nice installation experience I had. I began downloading the file at
5:15PM, and finished installing the SP by 5:45PM. It took only 2 min 20secs
to download on T1 line. I read the readme, re-booted my PC, doubleclicked
on the file, and everything else was done for me (I did have to insert my
Inventor 6 CD). I re-booted again, started Inventor, checked the Help>About,
and everything checked out. I changed my Options to warn me about graphics
driver options, and then loaded an IDW which performed well. I loaded a
large assembly, spun it, zoomed it, added a few nuts from the content
library, constrained them with the insert constraint, spun it till it was
dizzy (or was that me?).

Two problems I had previously didn't show up - the graphics driver warnings,
and slowwww constraint application.

IT LOOKS GOOD SO FAR!

Nice job Autodesk - thank you.

It is past time to go home - I'll report back next week.

Good luck to all of you with this installation.

Whoops - spoke too soon - still warns me that my graphics driver is not
certified, even though it is. I'll uncheck those boxes again.

Have a nice weekend!

Load SP1 and upgraded to the new nVidia 40.72 WHQL driver.
Smooth as silk and fast!
Thanks AD for the totally painless install and fixes.

Downloaded in 4min 37s, installed on new machine, and rebooted.

EXCELLENT!

I can now open files that I created in Beta2, and I haven't got advanced shape description to fall
over yet, but I am going to visit a Catia user this afternoon (Aerospace) and I will put it through
it's paces.

I downloaded it shortly after it was posted Friday night in less than a
minute. Traffic sure makes a big difference, no?

Actually, we use the "Elk Express", here in Montana (111
mins on a 46.2 connection). I think they use "Loon Express"
up north of the border.
