IV6 Animation

As I'm tweaking my presentation file, I have a few "frames" where I need to add a camera zoom-in to show object placement and then add a camera zoom-out to continue the presentation. I've been consulting my book and help menu but need additional assistance.

How do I edit a task and sequence?

Thanks in advance - Laura

At the top of your browser there's a filter button
where you can switch between Tweak, Sequence, and Assembly View.  The
Assembly View will be on by default.  Select the Sequence View.

The brower will now change to show the sequences
that you have in the presentation.  Expand out the sequenses and scroll
your mouse over to find the sequence that you want the camera to be zoomed
into.  Zoom in to the area so you can set your display to what you want the
camera to be looking at for that sequence.  RMB over the sequence and
select Properties.  A form will appear and select Set Camera.  Select
OK.

Now when you animate the camera will move to
whatever your screen was at when you selected Set Camera.

Joe,

My AVI turned out well - thanks again for your help.

I have a couple of issues though....

1. While playing the AVI, some of my "parts" in motion are appearing as though they are not regenerated...in other words, I have an "L" shaped key that takes on the appearance of being webbed when it's not. Some people have mentioned a graphics card issue but I have one of the better cards from the IV list. Do you have any other suggestion?

2. Again, I'm new to IV6 so please direct me....all of my camera zoom settings are fine except one. How do I set my camera WHILE my animation is assembled? I ran my animation up to the sequence where I needed to add a zoom, I depressed pause but was unable to go into that sequence to set my camera. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - Laura

1.  You need to play around with the display
settings under Tools/Application Options.  Try Display Quality Smooth to
start with.  Check out the help for this tab to tell you what everything
does.

2.  Edit the sequence.  Play the
animation (arrow button).  Get the view that you want using zoom, window,
pan, rotate (Don't exit out of the dialog box you don't need to).  Hit the
reset button.  Hit the set camera button.

K Johnson,

Having trouble with item 2 - here's what I'm doing:
1. Played animation up to & including frame #102
2. I need to edit the zoom in frame #103
3. Used zoom icon buttons to achieve desired view while still in "animation" dialog box.
4. Selected "Reset" in animation dialog box
5. Everything disappeared as if I were starting the animation over but my zoom stayed in position.
6. Unable to select "sequence" in browser to set camera
7. RMB on drawing screen and selected "Save Camera".
8. Ran animation again - zoom did not reset.

I'm probably missing something simple - what am I doing wrong?

Also, changed App Options to "smooth" - did better in some areas but "L" shaped key's still appear webbed.

Thanks - Laura

Try this

1.  Select the sequence in and RMB
edit.

2.  Click the arrow button to play the
sequence.

3.  Zoom

4.  Select reset in dialog.

5.  Select set camera in dialog.

6.  Select OK.

K Johnson,

Thanks for your instructions - they helped a great deal!! But I have posted another topic of problems. See "AVI Display Problems".
