Hi There,
I'm having a problem with Inventor crashing pretty much every time I try and perform Level of Detail suppression on a model. When I suppress first-level assemblies in the browser window, its fine most of the time. However, when I "drill down" into an assembly within my main assembly, I crash neara LOT....at least 50% of the time. I do attempt to suppress multiple items, so maybe I'm trying to do too much?
I have gone in to each subassembly and grounded as much as I'm able, and deleted the constraints. This seemed to help somewhat.
I do get an error report to send in, and I do send it in nearly every time. However, I have not heard back from Autodesk once regarding this issue.
Do any of you deal with this? Am I the only one?
IV2011
SP 1
Vault 2011 (basic)
Would a hardware upgrade help? We're running machines that are over 3 years old now. Dual core, 2.8 ghz, 8gb RAM, dedicated graphics card. Everything else seems to run just fine.

I have not seen this. You might want to provide full system and Graphics card/driver specs.
Also be aware that there is a SP2 for 2011.
Thanks for the reply.
Windows 7 64 bit
Intel Core2 Duo E6850 3.00 GHz
8 GB ram
Nvidia Quadro FX 4600
This also happened with IV2010. We upgraded to 2011 a month or so back. I had hoped they would have fixed this.
If I attempt the LoD suppression with a few items at a time, it's fine for the most part. But it is time consuming to suppress a couple items, save, rinse and repeat. It's really frustrating for me.
EDIT: I guess I'm finding that I'll just have to suppress a few items at a time. It seems that when I attempt too many, it is too much for the system.
You did not list your graphics driver version. You need to update that ?
All drivers are updated.
I'm guessing it's something to do with the build of this machine. All the designers here have the same build, and we've had a ton of problems with them. I'm on my 7th computer in the last 3 years, if that tells you anything....
When I suppress only a few components at a time, it seems to be stable, so I'll just do that for now. Once the new machines come in (supposedly in the next month) I'll try it out and see what happens.
Thanks much for your help.
