anyone offer any insight into what determines the order the tap pitches are
displayed in the drop down boxes. Thread.xls came default with the course
threads above the fine threads in the spreadsheet list and when inserting them
in Inventor, they showed up in the drop down box that order SO... I thought
I'd organize them so the sizes we use most are shown first (ie, #10-32 instead
of #10-24). After restarting Inventor to load the data again, everything
seemed to be OK until recently... NOW the thread shown first in the chart is
shown last in the drop down box. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I
recently applied Service Pack 2... wondering if they fixed the drop down sort
order to match the spreadsheet. Hoping this is the case so it doesn't continue
changing randomly. Thanks, Dave

for the response. I'm aware of the sort order and keeping the tabs inline.
Problem I'm having is the sequence that the tapped holes are displayed in the
drop down boxes when inserting them into an Inventor part. I've picked the
size of hole (#10) and the tap pitch showing by default in the drop down box
is #10-24. I want to change that to default as #10-32 so I don't have to pick
the drop down box and select the tap pitch I want. In IV10, I reorganized this
list and it worked like a charm. But IV2009, while it worked for awhile has
now seemed to revert. Still wondering if SP2 changed the sort order??? If so,
I fixed it and I'm done, but if not wonder when it will re-sequence them
again? To answer Ksmedley, we jumped from 10 to 2009... ouch. But reorganizing
the list by manually cutting/pasting the lines into the order we wanted to
display them in worked great in IV10. The attached .pdf shows the thread.xls
spreadsheet below the insert thread feature dialog. You can see that #10-32 is
the first line in the spreadsheet but the drop down displays #10-24 by default
when #10 size is selected. Thanks again. Dave
I am using Inventor 2012 which may not necessarily help your situation, but I just had pretty much the same problem today. I edited the .xls document and no changes occured and I knew that we had edited the spreadsheet in past versions and had it work. I kept messing with stuff and searching and finally discovered that Inventor 2012 uses a new location for the Thread.xls spreadsheet so I was editing the wrong one. I found out that 2012 created a new spreadsheet but did not delete the old one so we were left with two spreadsheets that were nearly identical in all aspects but only one spreadsheet updated the correct information.
