IV 2008 Unstable Assembly Feature

I have a simple assembly feature that works fine when created but eventually
becomes unstable. The modeling method used worked fine in R11 and I was
wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of error.

Error message:

400057.iam: Errors occurred during update
N1 N2 shell cut Extrusion 1: Could not build this Extrusion
Cannot cut/intersect an empty part. Use Edit Feature to change the
feature definition or Reorder the feature.

Rich,

If it worked in R11 and it is failing in R2008 then it sounds like a issue. We would like to investigate. Can you send the file? shekar.subATautodesk.com.

Thanks.

shekar,

I have submitted a support request #1-2208467437 and received a reply from
Colin Riley. The files are uploaded to the support request. The assembly
was created from scratch in IV2008 from migrated components and the error
occurred later on while adding and constraining additional components. I
then discovered and installed SP1 and re-created the same assembly but had
the same result. Thank you for your help and please contact me if you need
any further information.

Yes, I actually re-created the entire assembly after SP1 and ended up with
the same error. Rebuild all does have an effect but does not resolve the
error. I place the parts to be cut first and make the assembly cuts and
everything is fine. After adding and constraining most of the additional
parts, the assembly cuts fail. I was placing a part that had nothing to do
with the assembly cuts, dragged it to move it close to position and the
error popped up. I can post the files if you are interested in looking at
them.

Thanks for your help

I'll be out most of the day, but I'm sure someone will take a peek.

In order to post here, the file must be zipped,

Create a network place OR use Internet Explorer to post.

In IE, Select File > Login

This is the location that the Autodesk newsgroups use to post large files.

Keep in mind that it is a public site, just like this newsgroup.

Full information is located in the FAQ that is posted here weekly by Kent

Thanks. Autodesk is looking into it right now and I will post back with the
results. I tried the assembly on another computer here and got the same
error.
