IV 10 switching into sheet metal mode on its own

I converted a part to sheetmetal and messed around with making flat patterns of its faces. ever since, IV has been switching into sheet metal mode without me asking for it. also sometimes it switches to the sheetmetal panel when in an assembly or in a drawing view. it ALSO happened when i opened up 11 (installed beside 10, and after this started happening). its happened to different files, files that have never been converted to sheetmetal, and files in different projects. nothing's breaking because of it, but its annoying.

is this a known bug? seems like a config setting somewhere, anyone know a fix?

It is happening in every file. I notice it most often when i work in a part, then go to an idw, then back to the part - the part will have changed to sheetmetal. occasionally a part will convert to sheetmetal on its own on save, and occasionally the sheetmetal panel comes up in assemblies or drawings. I havent yet deciphered any rhyme or reason behind it, but it's maybe happening on update?
