Is there a way to create this simple sheet metal part

A simple angle that has two 90 degree notches and is formed
into a u shape,I haven't been able to create this in the
sheetmetal program.

I take that back it can be constructed it just seems like a pain for a simple part, step one I create the base face which is one of the 3 sides without the notches then you add
the other two sides without the notches as flanges, then picking the edge,I have to create three separate sketches
to add the three notched flanges, is there a simpler way?

You can create the notches in the flat....

First, create your angled part without notches. Then, create a sketch on one of the faces. In your sketch, use your "Project Flat Pattern" tool (located as a submenu of "Project Geometry".

This will allow you to project the geometry of the unfolded part onto your sketch plane. Now you should be able to create your notches in this one sketch. When you cut them through, make sure you select "cut across bend" if your notches are to follow around the formed part. This is pretty cool functionality.

If you do this frequently, why don't you just make a template out of one
of thos parts.

Then you can open the template, change the parameters, click update and
you're ready to save.

Here are the steps I would take to draw the
part:

  1. draw a face, possibly the bottom of the
    "U"

  2. add 2 flanges to form the rest of the
    "U"

  3. add the 2 flanges to both uprights of the "U", say
    1/2"

  4. add the flange at the bottom of the "U" with the
offset option on both ends. The offset should be at least same size of the
    flanges (1/2")

  5. use the corner seam tool on the ends of the
flanges to get the "V" notches
