Is Qestion about vertical text a hard one or the one everybody snubs at?
If you need it in the Part mode for an Embossment I believe 3D Text addin by Charles Bliss has a Vertical Option to it.
For IDWs & DWGs, I have never seen a setting or code for vertical text, I always just use your previously stated method of Character --> enter Character --> enter and then Middle Justify it to make it all line up nicely.

Thanks Mark. I think I can live with that.
After all, what are the odds that the vertical text will be used extensively by someone? But then, again, I use it quite a bit while designing electrical enclosures and I am about to start hating the key "ENTER" 🙂
