Is it possible to reverse the mouse wheel zoom direction?

Whoever decided it would be a good idea to set the mouse wheel direction for zooming to be the opposite of AutoCAD should be drug out in the street and beaten with a rubber hose...

Can this be reversed?

Or get the reversewheel.arx for Autocad/MDT from here http://www.abicad.com/default.htm

I think it makes more sense. Scroll the wheel away and the geometry moves away. Scroll the wheel towards you and the geometry moves towards you. This sounds like an improvement.
ACAD is the opposite of that.
Remember when using IV, forget ACAD!

Thank you. We have been looking for something like this for quite some time
now.

I agree.  You'd think that this would be built in as a custoomizable option.  After getting Inventor 2011 and upgrading from old 2006 I thought I was going CRAZY.  I'm running 2 machines one with Inventor 2011 and one with 2006 for a short period and I am fit to be tied!

Why are you posting to an ancient thread?

The wheel direction is correct in Inventor, SolidWorks, Pro/E....

The wheel direction can be corrected in AutoCAD. (zoomwheel=1 variable in contemporary versions of AutoCAD)
The wheel direction can be made incorrect in Inventor.  (Application Options).
How much training have you had?

Or just move to a 3D motion controller and get your LH involved.

Inventor 2020, In-Cad, Simulation Mechanical

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

How about this:

Reversing Inventor ‘wheel’ on the mouse to match AutoCad

 1. Make sure Inventor is closed.

 2. In the START menu choose “Run”, key in “regedit” and press ENTER.

 3. Now you’re getting the registry-editing window, it’s similar to the windows explorer. Just run through it to the next folder:

My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion13.0\System\Preferences\Display

 4. Now in the right column you double-click on the name: “Viewing Command Options”

 5. Another dialog box appears; change the value from 5 to 3.

 6. Click the OK button and close the window.

 7. Now start Inventor and the zoom-direction of your mouse wheel will have changed.

Reversing AutoCAD ‘wheel’ on the mouse to match Inventor.

 1. Make sure AutoCAD is open.

 2. Change the variable ZOOMWHEEL from 0 to 1.

As has been mentioned, when using a viewing devise (3Dconnexion SpacePilot for example) it controls the object orientation, not the camera (point from when you look at the object). It's probably a better idea to change the Autocad zoom to match Inventor.

Are you kidding me?  Why do all that work.  No need to edit the Registry.  Simply change the Inventor Application Options.

This thread has gone on too long.  Time for training......

You are spot on. What a stupid thing to do after so many people are so used to that ergonomic detail.

Pretty logical. Who cares about AutoCAD users? (they can fix the zoom direction in Options)

works the same for me in Inventor, Creo, SolidWorks and yes, AutoCAD.

So easy!

A lot of these reborn threads seem to be 1st posts by new forum members.
Came here searching for something that aggrivated them that wasn't covered in their training.

I'm sure they were just distracted during that point in the training....

Either:

A) Change the direction in ACAD.

B) Change the direction in IV.

Problem solved.

I guess you missed the image in Post #10 to this thread.
When you get that book - be sure to read it carefully.

John,

I'd strongly suggest going thru Inventor's "Get Started" tab and working thru the "Learn about Inventor" menu if you haven't already.

Granted, they may not cover every little customization trick like you see in this thread, but honestly, this thread was a very basic subject that was easily resolved and did go on way too long for some odd reason.

But honestly, JD is one of the best contributors here....and he does it all for free, just like the rest of us.
