Is it possible to create Flat Pattern from scaled Derived Sheet Metal Part?

I'm attempting to create a mini version of a product, I use the Derived Component button and scale the part down. Then I use  Convert to Sheet Metal, set my sheet metal defaults, but then nothing happens when i try to create flat pattern.

What am I doing wrong? Is it even possible to derive a flat pattern from a scaled part?

I would check to make sure the "Link" has been broken. Double check the "thickness" of your model that it exactly matches your S-M properties.

Can you post the two parts, the parent and the derived as well.

I've never tried the combination you mentioned, however I don't think it is going to work.

Let me give it a go.

Hey I got it !!!....and it does work. Cool

Thanks to blair for reminding me about the thickness.

The thickness drives the flat pattern. When the part was scaled, the thickness factor was inconsistent.

Scale the sheet metal thickness in the derived component by the scale factor.

My case was 0.120in, * 0.25ul = 0.03in.

My flat pattern is working again.

Try it 🙂
