IR6 - new SAT format, viewer needed

Hi,

I'm using "ACIS 3D Open Viewer 6.0" for viewing SAT files exported from
Inventor.
All was fine until I6. My viewer sad "Bye!", sat format not supported, bad
luck :smileysad:
Does anybody know some nice, free SAT viewer ?
Aha, and it must be IE PlugIn, to work in HTML environment (that's a reason
why I do not want new version :smileyhappy:

Thx in advance ...

Adam,

Just change the version of SAT file you are exporting by clicking the option
button.

The new "700acishoopspartviewer" from spacial is a
real treat and works with IV6 acis files.

SAT files are produced by kinda "robot" program which works via API. :smileysad:
Thx for trust in my brain :smileyhappy:

The version to be saved is a registry setting that can be changed either manually or via
the API if needed. I am not sure but possibly ....does the setting stick after you do it
once in the file saveas dialog? If so then do a saveas once on a dummy part, setting the
version and then run your batch program.

Otherwise here is where the setting is stored.

All the normal Registry warnings......If you aren't familiar with the Registry don't mess
with it

Start the Registry Editor and locate the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersionX.X\Translators\
SatTranslator
Create a new DWORD entry named SaveACISVersion and enter a value of 2, 3, 4,
5, 6 or 7. The value you enter represents the ACIS version used when you
export to the ACIS file format:
For example, if you enter a value of 5, an ACIS version 5 file is created
when you export to the ACIS file format.

Kent,

At least for now, at <
href="http://www.spatial.com">www.spatial.com
>, you can download
the hoops/acis viewer R7. Then do all your version changes there (let
inventor output at highest capability). It's free, it works well, it has
redlining, and you can back down to acis r1 if necessary. You can output an
assembly and throw out what you don't want in the viewer, rather than chase
down and output individual parts from IV.

ps. Wasn't I beating this drum about a year

Darvin Sounds good, ... but that is another step. If they are using a program to batch
output Sat files I doubt they are going to want to open them all in another program and
manually manipulate them.

I was thinking more in terms of whoever recieves
the files. That seems to be the short end!

Darvin,

Hoops viewer can't work like ActiveX placed on HTML page.
Ok, it can, but only for HSF files. Not for SAT format directly.
Old version (6) runs well.
I think so I will go with solution proposed by Kent.
Problem is so my ConvertingServer works for
Inventor/SolidEdge/SolidWorks/......
My final 3D format for view is SAT. All non-cad users need to view the
files.
Full layout is operated by PDM system which works in HTML/ASP environment.
