iProps

Hi all

I have just added a program to my site.
http://www.mymcad.com/kwik/iCode/icode.htm. Take a look at iProps part way
down the page. It is a excel file that allows you to read and display
properties from Inventor files and also you can use the power of Excel to
edit them and write them back to the files.

It is a Rev "0" release and I would appreciate any feedback on it, good or
bad or just suggestions. There is a couple of gotcha's ..... to use it in
Excel 97, you will have to remove one word from the code as outlined on my
web page, and that will make the preview dialog pretty worthless. Also the
preview dialog seems buggy ..... sometimes it displays and sometimes it
doesn't, but currently I don't know how to make it any better. Any
properties that can't be written back to the file will be displayed with a
colored background. One other big one is that using the links to start
Inventor will cause it to be opened without the browser or panel bar
showing. This has been sent on to the Inventor Developers as a possible
bug, and hopefully can get fixed in a future version.

Hopefully some will find it useful. Part of the reason I wrote it is for
people that don't have Inventor installed. All you need is DA installed.
Our Purchasing agent is able to use it to quickly check Rev numbers on
files, and also as a front end to loading them in Volo View Express.

Cool...was wondering if you were still working on it. Can't wait to check it out.

Todd

It still has a couple of issues that have me scratching my head but it should be pretty
usable right now. Still need to add custom properties but I figured I would catch that
next rev

Thanks.
