iParts:::

i've got a peg and a board with holes in it. in an assembly i want to insert the peg into the board holes. got it working with an iMate, but when i suppress a hole on the board part the assembly then gets confused and messes up. would i need to use an iPart? if so, any one got a good tutorial for inventor 7? ryan

If you can create the holes with a feature array then when you populate
the holes with pins using the assembly pattern (associative), any
arrayed occurence that you suppress (arrayed hole features in this case)
will in turn NOT be populated with pins in the assembly upon update.

i created a block part. then created a hole. then use the array feature to create 4 more holes.
i created a new assembly and inserted the block. i then placed my dowel component into the assembly. i then used the pattern component (associative). i now have 5 dowels. i then constrained the dowel array to the hole array. saved and closed.
then i opened and changed the block part by suppressing the hole array feature. saved it. opened my assemble and errors occured.

When you suppress the hole there is no longer a feature to constrain to,
that is the source of the error. If you were to constrain the dowel
to the block origins or the assembly origins you could then suppress the
dowel hole without error.

Just curious, why suppress the hole?

Dude,

You can't suppress the whole array.... only certain occurences of the
array-expand the array feature in the browser and suppress individual
occurences of the array.
