iParts Library Path Poll

A few of us are working on ideas for the iParts Content Library add-in. We
need to know how most people organize their iParts and standard library
parts.

1. In your project path, do you have your iParts more than one level deep?

e.g.
c:\iparts\fasteners
c:\iparts\hardware
is one level deep

c:\iparts\stainless\fasteners
c:\iparts\stainless\hardware

is two levels deep

2. In your project path, do you have your standard library parts more than
one level deep?
(see example above)

Thanks,

I was a little unsure if you meant number of instances in project file or directories deep, so here are both:

iParts: Only (1) top directory path in project file, but up to 2 directories deep.

standard library parts (non-editable):only (1) top directory path in project file, but up to 4 directories deep.

Actually both sets of info are helpful.

Everyone please follow jorgen's
example...

This is my structure

C:\Hardware\Screws\ (insert iparts here)
C:\Hardware\Screws\Panhd (child)
C:\Hardware\Screws\Flathd (child)
C:\Hardware\Screws\Truss (child)
C:\Hardware\Connectors\ (both iparts and regular parts)
C:\Hardware\Connectors\12345\ (child)

One level. I don't use a large variety of fasteners and such, so a simpler
scheme works well for me.

iParts are part of an included project file 1 level deep in the library using proxie paths. Standard library parts are part of the workgroup search path 1 level deep and come from the same included project file.

we use just one level. i like to keep it simple. the less paths i have
to choose from the better...

Sean,
We use Library paths on the network 1 deep with proxies for iPart Folders. I.E.

Library - f:\_library\Hardware\
_Library - f:\_library\Hardware\Hardware_Parts\

Where individual iParts will be stored under individual Folders under \Hardware\ and any individual parts that make up a manufacturer assy in \Hardware\ are stored in the \Hardware_Parts\ Folder

Hope that helps.

I have a folder named g:\hardware
In that folder all my ipart master are put and they create there own folder
in g:\hardware.
e.g.: g:\hardware\nut_master.ipt
create folder and part # like in the
table ->g:\hardware\nut_master\nut_02520.ipt (nut 1/4-20)
