iPart problem

My SHCS iPart (that I got from cbliss.com) is giving me a fit. If I do a
"replace component", I will loose any constraint that was on the original
part. This only happens on one size, 1/2-13x1. All the other sizes will
replace and not loose the constraint.

The error that I get tells me that Inventor thinks that the part is
different

I have tried this:
1. Deleted the child part from the iPart directory and opened a blank
assembly drawing and inserted the problem size.... thus rebuilding this one
size. Did not fix the problem.

2. I also tried renaming the parent file and creating several child parts,
then inserting and constraining the parts. I can do a "replace component"
and not loose any constraints. Works great.

Any ideas on what I can do so this one bolt will work properly??

I inserted it using the default 1/4-20 x 1". I lost my constraint everytime
I changed from/to this size. But changing between all the other sizes went
well.

Karl,

Good to see that I am not the only one with this problem.

Anyone know why this happens?

If I remember correctly when I used that part I also ran across that error.
I edited the part and found an issue with the head at 1/4" and larger sizes.
That was what was causing the loss of constraint at the larger sizes. I
thought I had sent Charles an updated copy of the part. I may have
forgotten to.

Hal,
When I downloaded the files, I found that the head diameter and the body
diameter was not concentric. I fixed this about a year ago on all my bolts.
When I started having this problem, I relooked at the model. There was not
anything that stood out as being the culprit.

Can you tell me what you found so that I could make the change to my models.

Thanks
Kirk

That was what I found and fixed as well. I haven't had any problems since
then. I just opened an assembly, dropped several instances into it, and
changed to several sizes and lengths. Everything works fine.

Wish I could be of more help.
