iPart Part Number

Can some shed some light on how to get iPart fasteners to always produce
their full Part Name in the Part number of the Parts list (such as FHMS 8-32
UNCx5-8).

Example: iPart Fastener FHMS-UNC.IPT yields the exact same Part Number in
the IDW Parts list no matter what size or thread is chosen-very frustrating.
the only work around is to manually fill out the 'Part Number' or
'Description' cell in the Part list & then freeze it (can't override the
Part Number. But this defeats the automation & risks errors if part changes
length & you forget to correct the Part List manually.

How do you control this? So far, I cannot find anything specific in Sean's
tutorial on iParts that allows me to fix this problem on the existing
iParts.

Is there any preferred procedure regarding selecting the child iPart vrs
selecting the parent iPart when adding a fastener to an assembly?
Thanks.

I've also noticed that not all my iParts fasteners have this behavior. I
sure would like to know how to fix it on the ones that do. Any help will be
appreciated.

I think that Sean came up with a solution. Have the part number field in
your Ipart table.

PS this occured in IV6 too

In the iPart table you have to add the Part number column and fill it in.
