iPart Origin Work Plane Visibility Problems

I did a search for this topic but their solutions didn't work for me.

I have an ipart with uses the origin workplanes for placement in an assembly. These workplanes are visible when in the ipt mode. After placement in an iam, where my origin workplanes are already set to visible, the ipart origin workplanes will not display.

How do I fix this? Thanks.

How come when I turn the visibility on for the "User Work Planes", the ipart's origin work planes become visible? This isn't right....is it?

You should be able to select the workplanes in the browser. As you
hover your cursor over a plane or axis it will highlight.

Even though the origin workplanes aren't visible, you can select them for
constraints in the browser. If they just need to be oriented the same as
the assembly origin, then you could use my insert and fix program.

Hi Laura,
iPart children are created from the standard template file and pick up the
origin visibility from that. Two possible solutions for you are:
1) Make the origin planes visible in your template file. If you do this
they will be visible for every new part you create with that template.
2) In your iPart factory, create user workplanes which are coincident with
the origin planes. Then go to the "Work Features" tab on the iPart Author
dialog, add a column to your iPart table for the new work features, and set
the table values to "Include".

Hope that helps!

1) is simply not true. I have a flat bar- a very simple standard ipart. In the part itself - in a library - origin work planes are clearly visible. Dump that ipart in to a new assembly and I have to go in to the browser and turn them on.

A real pain in the neck.

Would be happy to stand corrected...
