Hi Steve

Have you got Excel installed?

I got this error when I had not yet installed Office.

Inventor needs Excel for iPart tables. Without Excel iParts are not possible.

Regards, Neil.

dont' forget it is cheaper to upgrade office than buy the full version, and that MS Works can be purchased and then upgraded from, which is much cheaper. This is legal, although not quite sure why MS allow it!!

I'm in the same boat. New Workstation, and OpenOffice works great, so I didn't bother with installing Microsoft Office. Looks like I won't be using iPart tables...

In fact, I'm not sure why Excel is required at all. OpenOffice reads and writes Excel, so it's not necessary to have Excel installed in order to create an Excel file. And OpenOffice is the default program used for XLS files on my computer. Just write the file and let me open it however suits me.

I received the same error.  I knew inventor needed excel so I got just got the trial version of Microsoft Office and installed it before I installed inventor. I did have  Open Office, but when I first got that error I uninstalled Open Office (leaving Microsoft Office), tried again and nothing. I then removed Inventor and reinstalled it. Still get 'Failed to export Desel Table' after trying to make an iPart. Anyone have any solutions?

Please see the following solution. Any call to MS Excel from an application on W7 64 bit will have this issue:

Please mark as solution if this resolves your issue. Thank you.

Hi.

I got the same problem, " Failed to export desel table".

As it says in the tread i tried to install microsoft excel but that didnt helped at all.

I then tried to do the fix in the register, but i dont even have the "folder" "{ 00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}" .

the closest i got is { 00024512-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}. I tried to edit this and delete all the Wow6432Node\  but that didnt worked either. So i imported the original register file.

Any sugestion?

Autodesk should consider detaching its needs for ms products, the market has so many options nowaday.
