Inventor6 Graphics Benchmark

You will find a short graphics benchmark for Inventor6 in
/autocad/customer-files
What about you graphics performance?

My results on a P4 1.5 WXP Quadro4 750XGL:

Shaded = 27.3 FPS
Hidden = 7.9 FPS
Wireframe = 10.7 FPS
Multiple Windows = 29.3 FPS
Average = 18.8 FPS

OpenGL can be very CPU intensive. As an example take a look at the GeForce 4200Ti review at Toms Hardware and see the differences between an XP1200 and XP2000+. http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/02q2/020409/geforce4ti4200-10.html - Rich Thomas

The newest one from the nVidia website.
I suspect that this benchmark isn't just measuring the graphic speed, but
something else too.
I see a overall perfomance gain of 10...20% over my other Dell 2.53GHz in
most other tests I did (8000 cubes).

Screen resolution is also a key factor... so even the browserpane wil effect
the score

To distinguish Game cards from Cad cards, there should be a half section
view included in the test

Ron,
>To distinguish Game cards from Cad cards, there should be a half section

that's what I've tried. But I haven't found a way to automatize section
view.
Another good test would be to add textures to the object. I made tests with
textures which costs much graphics memory. My Quadro 700XGL renders in
Software after 2 or 3 windows with unified backbuffer disabled. I expect the
same behavior with all GeForce boards.
Furthermore Inventor Graphics settings should be set to the default settings
automatically.
But I found no way to program such features.

You can make the texture test by hand: My proposal for an Texture bench is:
Load Engine.iam and before starting the Benchmark select Exhaust System,
Format - Colors.. - Texture Choose Rust, Ok - Apply - Close
Run the Benchmark with this texture.

Can someone automatize this?

Couldn't you make the code "open"? I noticed you put ist behind a
password... I'd like to take a look to see if I could "enhance" this
benchmark to be more acurate...

I made the code to access the part before I realized the file doesn't
already contain the Rust texture. I am sure I could probably add it with
some work but finding the time might be a little difficult for a while. If
you aren't in a real big hurry, email me and we can look into doing it.

you will find a version without password protection in CF
