Inventor Series 11 SP3

I have approx. 40 machines to install this service pack on. I successfully installed on my own which was the first machine I installed this service pack on. Then I went on to the others. It will install but I get many error 1328 messages and Inventor crashes on open after install. Had this happen on 3 machines and had to rollback to SP2 on all 3 of them. Did two more installs, still receiving the error 1328 message, on these Inventor didn't crash on open, but had poor performance. I've tried just about everything that I can think of and still no luck. Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,
Sue

A search of this forum shows that a 1328 error message means you don't have sufficient free disk space.

I have been searching this error number for weeks now and have tried absoloutely everything that I have found. These machines have more than enough free disk space so that has been ruled out as the problem.

It's sufficient disk on C: that matters

As per my last reply there is sufficient disk space, to be more specific there is sufficient disk space on C. I have ruled this out as being the issue.

Yes, I have deleted the temp files. That doesn't seem to make a difference though.

Have you updated the windows installer on the problem systems? What
antivirus are you running?

It appears that the computers with the problem installation all have the latest version of windows installer 3.1.4000.4039 and we are using Trend MNicro OfficeScan for antivirus. This is the same for the machine that had no problems.

At least Windows Installer shows up in Add/Remove Programs so I presume that means you can uninstall it. There should be a copy on the Inventor discs to reinstall (look in bin\acadfeui\Inventor\Msi) as Microsoft will certainly try and re-push you the latest (broken ?) version.

Hi Sue,

This could be an issue caused by some of the
files being customized by the user. It is perhaps the file that is
indicated in the 1328 error message. The patch does not know how to patch that
file (and others) because they are different then what the patch
expects.

I would think that the following steps might
have some positive effect:

1)      Control
Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Autodesk Inventor 11->Repair
color=#ff0000>(not reinstall)

2)      Install R11 SP3
patch

Doing that will probably require the original media
unless the user installed from an accessible server location.

Note that doing this will probably wipe out
whatever customization this user has done to modify the files that are now
trying to get patched.

Please let me know if this works for
you.

Thanx
Mahesh

Nope, this didn't work either. Still crashes on the splash screen and I have to uninstall SP3 in order to use Inventor.

Still can't install SP3. Has there been any resolution to this issue. I've been watching other postings on this same problem but Haven't seen anything that works yet. Just wondering what the status on this Service Pack issue is?

Just by chance, do you have some machines at Windows SP1 level? Inventor
requires SP2 and Office updates....

Another afterthoughy.....

If you are doing a silent install, then you may not see that older versions
of Inventor (ie; IV10) have to be at SP2 or above, or the R11 install will
fail.

All machines are updated and at the correct service pack level for both Windows and Office as well as all of the Autodesk programs.

I am only trying to add SP3 to already existing installs.
No machines have Inventor 10, only Inventor 11.
