The "Inventor NG World Cup" (IvNGWC) is something that came up after I
participated in a national championship in Denmark last year.
I asked if anyone was interested in seeing the championship challenge
drawing, one thing led to another and all of a sudden I was involved in
organizing a monthly challenge/event where everybody can participate just
for the fun of it.
The rules are simple (start the clock before looking and model as fast as
you can) and is explained every month along with the new challenge.
I keep a scoreboard that is updated every month and uploaded to iCF together
with the winning solution (and sometimes my own too).
The challenges can come from anyone with a data set that is not too
difficult but yet somewhat "brain-teasing".
Right now I could use some for the upcoming new challenge year.
What I get out of it?
Well - it's fun and interesting to see the many solutions of doing the same
task.
My own solution is often an extract of the smartest ways to do it that I see
among the contestants' models.
By uploading the solution(s) hopefully everybody can see and learn a lot
from the models.
Besides that it gives me something to do when I'm bored at home raising my
three little children and my wife is busy doing other things than
entertaining me...8^))
Was that explaining enough?
