Inventor display

I have what is to me a rather large assembly.  1823 total occurrences in the active document and 700 open documents in the session.

My problem is that when I open the assembly nothing shows up on the monitor in the image area.  The tree is fully populated an showing visibility on all the parts.

I have tried saving as a different level of visibility and still no go.

Any ideas would be helpful.

At this point there are no insulting questions.

Yes I did try centering and view all.

Rebuild didn't make any change in the view.  When I picked it it appeared to be working but again no change in the display.

Attached is the screen shot.

Thanks for the help.

I'm afraid I have no clues, then.  have you shut down and restarted?  Might be you have a memory leak, and just need to clear things out.

Sorry I don't know more.

Hi richweiss1513,

You didn't mention the version of Inventor you're using, but I seem to recall this as a bug in a past version (Inventor 2011 maybe). I think the solution was to activate the Master View Representation, and it would bring back the missing components.

You might also look into installing the latest service packs if you've not done so.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

My version is 2012.  I have had some suggestions but none have worked so far.  Still searching.

I notice in the browser that one of your parts is a surface body.

Another shot in the dark -
Delete that and any other suface bodies or imported parts.

Try changing back and forth between View Reps (post screen shot of your View Reps).

(did you check on other assemblies and they work as expected?)

Stephen,

In the view where nothing is visible, "find in window ' is not available.  Hummm....

Hi richweiss1513,

Does setting Inventor to use Software Graphics do anything?

I hope this helps.

What happens if you double click on the locked Master view rep?

What happens if you open another assembly?

Not sure if this will work but make a new assembly level sketch on the origin of the assembly and look at your cordinates in the bottom right of screen when drawing a line. I had an assembly once with a part that was about a million inches off origin and the assembly always showed everything so far away I could never see anything. Just a thought.

Changing to software graphics didn't change the diplay.

When I click on the Master view I do get a display but it is not one I save in a Level of Detail.

I can open different assemblies with no apparent problems.

Sorry but I'm not sure if I know how to make a sketch in an assembly without picking a surface to put the sketch on.  Could you describe how to do it?

thanks

Rich

In the assembly just hit the 2D Sketch button and select the origin workplane from your browser bar. Just select any workplane in the browser bar and it will sketch on it. This way you do not have to visually select it. Then just make sure your sketch HUD is on and you will see the cordinates. However as I am writing this I just got an idea. Just select the origin workplane in the assembly and make it visible. Then goto auto-resize. If it is a zoom issue like I was mentioning you will then be able to see the workplane. And the problem will be a part that is floating out in oblivion haha.

Uhmm, did you lock that user created View Rep after creation?
Sounds to me like it somehow got saved in a different state.

Can't you create a new one while in Master View and move on?  (be sure to lock it once you have it set up)
