Inventor - Deleting an associated object?

Firstly, a bit of a warning - I'm new to Inventor 🙂

I've created a couple objects within a file... The problem is that Object 2 is dependant on a workplace that was set using Object 1. I no longer need Object 1, but if I delete it, Object 2 also deletes... Object 2 is modelled and doesn't need anything else done to it. I'd like to just collapse the hierarchy and call it good....

What should I do? (Other than read the F'n manual some more!)

Thx

Read the manual is always a good thing Smiley Happy

I don't know your goal, but in Inventor you normally model your parts in separate part files .ipt.

Model in Inventor is not as Autocad, and the answer to the problem was written by you "that Object 2 is dependant on a workplace that was set using Object 1. I no longer need Object 1, but if I delete it, Object 2 also deletes"

Yes..  the geometry is dependant by other geometry and it makes sense that if you delete the base on which you build something you can have problems.

You have to model your parts separately and then assemble them, or you can you a multibody modeling:

I see many other problems in your model, as the sketches not constrained, lack of dimensions, constructions and surfaces not needed.

Go on with the manual and don't give up! Good luck!

Use the Delete Face with Lump option.
