Hi

I was wondering can anyone help here. I am running Inventor 2014 SP2 and all of a sudden, for some unknown reaseon Inventor is crashing when i am not using it. If I leave my desk for 2 minutes or so, when i come back i have an error " inventor has stoper working " and the software closes as per the usual hazey backround etc etc. I dont get an error code or an option to "Report to Autodesk" etc.

My system is a Dell T3610

Windows 7 ( latest updates installed)

16 GB ECC RAM

2 x 256 SSD (non raid)

Nvidia K4000 Graphics Card (latest driver installed)

No difference between large assemblies or if its a single part open.

Very frustrating........... any help would be appriciated.

Is it a consistent issue or random one? Could you see the customer error report dialog?

It happend quiet often over a 2 hour period this morning (maybe 4-5 times). First time it happened was about one wek ago, up to that it never happened before. So kind of consistant of late ? The only thing new on the system an Adobe PDF viewer update nad a windows update.

No there is no error report dialog what so ever which is strange.

If you uninstall the windows update, is the issue still reproducible? If not, please let us know what windows update you have installed.

The attached are the updates, i will try uninstall them and see how that goes. As for reproducible, in this case i just had a 3rd instance of inventor running (having more than one instance is pretty normal) and the 3rd instance crashes after 2-3 mins of inactivity. However the second instance has not been touched in a few hours and is still running ??

You mean that there are multiple instances of Inventor running in the same period when you have design work using Inventor, right? And there are different behavior on each instance.

Thanks,

Well yes and no. I have multiple instances of Inventor running in the same period. Completly differend project on a different file structure, however on the same hard drive. One instance I am constanly working on, Creating Parts and building an Assembly etc. The Second I am referencing every now and again (hard to say how ofter, sometimes every 2mins other times i might not visit it for 10 mins+) the third instance i opend to again reference previous work (different project different location) and it crashed after 2-3 mins of inactivity. So different behavior on each instance but different inputs also ??

Oh I Forgot to mention, Windows and Inventor are installed on Hard Drive 1, File structure including Projects and Libraries are on Hard Drive 2. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Hi Yijiang.Cai

Just an update, I have un-installed all windows updates for the last 2 months as mentioned. I have had inventor running for the last six hours without an incident.

I will have to figure out which update caused the issue as it will most likely be downloaded again during the next windows update.

Thanks again for the help. Much appriciated.
