Inventor and AutoCAD sheet sets

Is there a way to link sheet sets in autoCAD with Inventor idw's?

Basically we do the initial design in Inventor then basic drawings and drop them into AutoCAD to detail up at a later date.  The crossover timing to autocad is always contensious because we break the link with the model.

we need to issue draft drawings from inventor so the titleblock etc needs to be filled in correctly and we are looking for a way not to redo the work in autocad but also use the sheet set manager

Hi stephengibson76,

You can't use AutoCAD sheet sets with IDWs, but you can if you convert the IDW to an Inventor DWG file. Recall that an Inventor DWG is just like an IDW but with added funtionality.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Thanks,  this seems to work quite well and also creates a buffer so the drawings remain associated to the model for longer before they are autocadded out and link broken

Any problems with inventor dwg's other than filesize?
