Inventor 6 with Power Point....????

I have tried two different way to be able to Insert Objects from Autodesk Inventor into Microsoft PowerPoint. First attempt: While Inventor was installed, reinstalled PowerPoint to see if it "updates" the Object box (Insert/Object), it did not. Second attempt: uninstalled Inventor and uninstalled PowerPoint. Reinstalled PowerPoint and then reinstalled Inventor...still no Autodesk Inventor within my dropdown box within Microsoft PowerPoint to be able to bring in Autodesk Inventor Objects. Any suggestions? MUCH Thanks

When I want a picture in PowerPoint all I do is
make a print screen of the part, go to microsoft photo-editor, past it as a new
image en then crop the part of the picture I want. Save it as a *.jpg or copy
it. Go to powerpoint and paste it. Then the only thing you have to do is resize
it, because it comes in quite big.

I do the same as John.  As far as I know,
PowerPoint doesn't have viewing capabilities of Inventor
files.    The "big guns" may have a way to do it the way you want
to by grabbing the "preview" picture for the file... but this isn't usually
very good resolution if iyou expand it larger than a standard
thumbnail.

Besides even if it were capable, your PowerPoint
presentation will be smaller (filesize) and faster if you make your
own jpg's.

I'm sure a lot of users have made AVI files from
assemblies (using driven contraints) and presentations that work well in
PowerPoint.  Just remember to update them all when things
change...

He's probably used to AutoCAD, where you can copy and paste or insert a
drawing in the Insert > Object command, and it comes through as a line
drawing in your office product (using WMF format or some other voodoo
magic). The advantage is that you can scale these drawings and they
won't alias like bitmaps will.

Inventor is missing a lot of "legacy" features such as these, I fear.
It would at least be reasonable to expect this to work with .idw's.
